iCAN! Supports Kilmer's First Day of Service

During Kilmer's Day of Service on April 17th, students traveled to six elementary schools, five senior citizen residences, and two homeless shelters; participated in five outdoor cleanups; created items for three animal shelters; and provided support to U.S. troops, refugees in Kenya, children in Haiti, and public officials in the U.S.

Leveraging momentum from the "Fill 400 in February" campaign, iCAN! organized food donations to support two programs that feed hungry children in our community.

  • Each week, Food for Others P3 program provides 1400 needy elementary school children with food for the weekend.
  • Alternative House distributes 400 snack bags each week for those assisted by their 9 community programs.

Through the generosity of the Kilmer community and money donated by Vienna Shopping Center, 30 Kilmer students were able to make 420 snack bags for Alternative House, and P3 bags and food donations totalling 1123 pounds for Food for Others.
